Grubhub driver requirements in 2026

Last reviewed: September 8, 2026

Grubhub delivery partners pick up restaurant orders and drop them off on a flexible schedule. Age is generally 18 — 21 in Las Vegas — and published license-tenure rules do not all say the same thing.

Published basics

  • 18+ in most markets; 21+ in Las Vegas
  • License tenure on the applicant FAQ: 18-year-olds need at least 1 year on a valid license; applicants 19 or older need 2 years
  • Car, motorcycle, bicycle, or scooter where the market allows
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance for drivers
  • Valid driver’s license or state ID for bikers
  • Smartphone with a data plan and the Grubhub for Drivers app

License tenure: two official wordings

Grubhub’s applicant FAQ splits license history by age:

  • 18 — at least 1 year on a valid driver’s license
  • 19+ — 2 years on a valid driver’s license

Grubhub’s sample Delivery Partner Agreement (also posted on driver support) uses one rule for everyone: at least 18 years of age and a valid driver’s license for at least 2 years.

Signup path

Start on Grubhub’s official driver site, choose a market, and finish the application in the Driver app. Background checks are required before you can deliver.

Waitlists

If your delivery market is full, join the official waitlist or consider a nearby open market shown in the signup flow. Skip unofficial sellers who claim they can place you instantly.

Frequently asked questions

How old do you have to be for Grubhub?

Grubhub’s published U.S. minimum is 18 years of age, and 21 or older in Las Vegas. Confirm your market in the official driver signup.

How long do you need to have held a driver’s license?

Grubhub’s applicant FAQ says 18-year-old applicants need at least 1 year on a valid license, and applicants 19 or older need 2 years. Grubhub’s sample Delivery Partner Agreement instead says every partner must be at least 18 and have held a valid driver’s license for at least 2 years. Confirm which rule your market applies during official signup.

What vehicle can you use on Grubhub?

Grubhub lists car, motorcycle, bicycle, or scooter depending on the market. Drivers need a valid license and insurance; bikers need a license or state ID per Grubhub’s published checklist.

What if my Grubhub market is full?

Grubhub may offer a waitlist or suggest a nearby open market. Use only the official driver site or Driver app — do not buy an account.
