DoorDash is one of the widest food-delivery options in the US, but age and vehicle rules still vary by state and city. This page summarizes published requirements so you know whether the official signup is worth starting.
Age requirements
- 18+ in most states
- 19+ in Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kentucky, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Texas, Utah, and West Virginia
- 21+ for new applicants in California (existing California Dashers already active were grandfathered when the rule changed)
Vehicle and equipment
Most Dashers use a car with a valid license and auto insurance. In select cities you can deliver by bike or on foot. You also need a smartphone that can run the Dasher app and a way to receive payouts.
Documents and screening
The signup asks for identity information and runs a background check. We do not collect Social Security numbers or license images on this site. Start only on DoorDash’s official Dasher signup page, then finish identity steps in the Dasher app.
What this guide does not do
